S. Pushkin Tbilisi State Pedagogical Institute in 1980. After defending his cultural history-focused candidate's dissertation on \"History of Georgian Soviet Culture: Development of Cinema in 1921-1938\" in 1987, he received the title of Candidate of Historical Sciences. He received the Doctor of Art Studies degree (focused on film, television, and other screen arts) in 1997 after successfully defending his doctoral dissertation on \"Historical-Social Influences and Ways of Development of Western.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has been employed at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University since 1992. Completed the transition from senior teacher to full professor. He served as the director of the Department of Television Arts and the coordinator of foreign relations. He delivered lectures on the history of Georgia, world history, television history, and the history of Georgian cinema. Presently, he instructs students in the field of World Cinema History. He is the supervisor of diploma and dissertation works, co-author of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, and the chief of the sub-direction of Cinema History.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is a member of the Georgian National Film Academy, project leader and editor of the website \u201cGeorgian Film Review,\u201d and author of 70 scientific pieces that have been published both domestically and internationally. He has served as a jury member at international film festivals, participated in both local and international scientific conferences, and edited a number of books and periodicals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His biography can be found in the reference books \"Who's Who in Georgia 2001-2002,\" \"Who's Who in Georgia 2006,\" \"Who's Who in Georgia 2009,\" \"Parliament of Georgia 1990-2006,\" \"Doctors of Science of Georgia 1992-2006,\" along with \"Georgian Cinema: Encyclopedic Dictionary 1896-2011.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has written seven books, including \"Georgian Cinema,\" \"Western: History and Film,\" \"Film World of Akira Kurosawa,\" \"History of the World Cinema. Silent Film,\" \"History of World Cinema, 1930-1960s,\" \"Georgian Cinema: A Short History,\" and \"John Ford\"), as well as co-author of the collections \"Power of Georgian Women Filmmakers\" (published in South Korea in 2014), \"Our Dignity\" (published in Georgia in 2016, Volume VIII), and \"Purpose: Georgia\" (published in Spain in 2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He held positions at the Tbilisi \u21161 Experimental School, the film studios \"Georgian Film\" and \"Mematiane,\" A. S. Pushkin Tbilisi State Pedagogical Institute, Georgian Historical Society, and a small publishing company called \"Tao-91,\" in addition to private author's schools and universities. He served on the parliamentary committee for education, science, culture, and sports while he was a member of the Georgian Parliament.
